I used to teach physics.
Now I teach machines to do stuff.
PhD physicist and founding engineer. For the last decade I've built machine-learning and AI products for venture-backed startups. I write the code, not the slide deck.
What I do.
I build AI that does real work for the businesses that use it.

Building Leap (askleap.ai). I take on a few outside engagements a year.
Who I am.
A dad, first. Home is a quiet corner of North Florida, not far from where I earned my PhD and learned how to teach. My toughest and favorite audience now is my daughter, who asks "why" about forty times a day and keeps me honest about saying things simply.
Start with a free audit.
I help business owners figure out where AI actually pays off, and where it's just expensive noise. So we start with a free audit: I look at how your business runs and tell you straight where AI saves you real time or money, where it won't, and what it would take to build the parts worth doing. No pitch deck, no jargon. If nothing's worth doing yet, I'll tell you that too.
- A no-pitch read on where AI actually helps your business
- Custom builds: AI agents, RAG, data foundations, and automations
- Getting a prototype into production you can actually trust
- A second set of eyes on an AI project that's stuck

How is this different from just using ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a smart assistant you drive by hand, one question at a time. What I build runs on your business: your manuals, your data, your workflow, doing a specific job the same way every time without someone babysitting it. The audit is where we figure out which jobs are worth wiring up, and which ones a chatbot already handles fine.
-
Do I need a tech team or engineers on staff?
No. That's my job. You bring the knowledge of how your business runs, I handle the building, and I set it up so your people can use it without learning anything technical. If it needs a button, it gets a button.
-
Can the AI take actions on its own that I don't want?
Only the ones you decide it should. I build these so a person stays in control: the AI can flag, draft, sort, or suggest, and a human signs off before anything real happens. You set where that line is. Nothing goes on autopilot unless you want it to.
-
Is my business data safe?
Yes, and we sort that out before any work starts. Your data stays yours, it doesn't get used to train anyone else's model, and for sensitive work I can keep everything inside systems you control. I've built for regulated clients, so this isn't an afterthought.
