  1. 2012 to 2019University of Florida

    PhD Physics

    Phonon transport in silicon nanowires, published in Physical Review B. Taught hundreds of undergrads and won the Graduate Teaching Award.

  2. 2019 to 2026

    Data Scientist and ML (AI) Engineer

    Took machine learning and GenAI out of notebooks and into production for real users.

  3. 2026 to now

    Founder, and consultant

    Building Leap (askleap.ai). I take on a few outside engagements a year.

Who I am.

A dad, first. Home is a quiet corner of North Florida, not far from where I earned my PhD and learned how to teach. My toughest and favorite audience now is my daughter, who asks "why" about forty times a day and keeps me honest about saying things simply.

  • How is this different from just using ChatGPT?

    ChatGPT is a smart assistant you drive by hand, one question at a time. What I build runs on your business: your manuals, your data, your workflow, doing a specific job the same way every time without someone babysitting it. The audit is where we figure out which jobs are worth wiring up, and which ones a chatbot already handles fine.

  • Do I need a tech team or engineers on staff?

    No. That's my job. You bring the knowledge of how your business runs, I handle the building, and I set it up so your people can use it without learning anything technical. If it needs a button, it gets a button.

  • Can the AI take actions on its own that I don't want?

    Only the ones you decide it should. I build these so a person stays in control: the AI can flag, draft, sort, or suggest, and a human signs off before anything real happens. You set where that line is. Nothing goes on autopilot unless you want it to.

  • Is my business data safe?

    Yes, and we sort that out before any work starts. Your data stays yours, it doesn't get used to train anyone else's model, and for sensitive work I can keep everything inside systems you control. I've built for regulated clients, so this isn't an afterthought.
